How to Achieve Happiness all Throughout Retirement
New Information From Multiple Studies May Shock You!

AS Seen in "AARP THE MAGAZINE" November 2011 Issue

"The American Psychological Association, recently published an analysis of multiple studies. Researchers from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand analyzed questionnaires from 420,000 people in 63 countries. "Having the freedom to change careers or pursue our passions makes us happier than does a hefty bank account." "So while wealth can provide you with more choices; it is really having the ability to realize your dreams that leads to greater happiness," says study coauthor Ronald Fischer, Ph.D."

As a young boy I was privileged to live in various colonies of retired Americans all throughout Mexico. I learned early on the importance of performing creative work in retirement for compensation or not. In my view discovering one's passion (s) and making it one's life's work all throughout retirement is personally meaningful; sometimes profound. This notion has now been validated in these recent studies.

Lifestyle Is Main Influence on a Sharp Mind

A study, conducted by research teams in the UK and Australia, combined DNA analysis with data from around 2,000 participants who were asked to take intelligence tests at age 11, and again aged 65 to 79. The study, funded by the charity Age UK, is published in the journal, Nature."

Study Conclusion

"The way
in which a person's mind ages, is largely down to lifestyle factors, not genetics. Researchers found genetic factors only account for 24% of changes in intelligence, suggesting environmental factors have the biggest influence on whether a person's mind remains sharp in old age."

Creative work keeps minds sharp and also serves as an insurance policy for those retirees who may find they want or need informal income in retirement. Due to rapidly changing economic paradigms and or health related issues too many workers may be forced to leave the work force sooner than expected. Effective transition to creative work helps ensure individuals will outlive their money.

I invite you to attend my complimentary online seminars. Why not select the Creative Retirement Planning seminar as an introduction. Then attend "Find Your Passion (s) ; make something new your life's work" along with " Put Your Financial House in Ordersooner rather than later." This approach will ensure your happiness all throughout your retirement years!

Find Your Passion

Make Something Your Life’s New Work”

Discover how you can find or reconnect with your passion (s). Likely you were forced to ignore this passion (s) when you were younger in favor of something more practical. Discovering your passion (s) and making it your life’s work is personally meaningful; sometimes profound? Your motivation to find your passion and make the creative work connection might also be partially economic.

Perhaps your passion is simply something fun you enjoy doing; involves meeting new people, traveling, helping others, performing, or capitalizing on your unique abilities while earning extra money. You too can capitalize on your creativity!

Likely you understand growing old is not always an easy road. This is precisely why it is critical to keep mentally active, vibrant, genuinely excited to see who you will become in older age!

As you anticipate and actually wrap up your years of service in your career, moving into retirement, you get to find your passion again. Likely you have plenty of energy left for something that is meaningful and satisfying. Finding your passion and making it your new life’s work makes retirement more enjoyable and rewarding.

Your motivation to find your passion might be economic. Creative work also serves as an insurance policy for those who may find they need or want informal income in retirement. Due to rapidly changing economic paradigms and or health related issues many workers may be forced to leave the work force sooner than expected. Effective transition to creative work helps ensure individuals will outlive their money.

Due to the financial collapse of 2007 and the “Great Recession” of 2008; many individuals in their forties and fifties planning for their retirement have come to realize their equity in their homes is no longer their nest egg for their older age. Consequently selling their homes and then downsizing with a mountain of cash is no longer realistic. Most will work to the age of 67-70.

Unfortunately others have lost too much of their savings in recent years. Starting over is not a realistic option and yet neither is retiring comfortably without working part-time.
Thankfully, there is a silver lining to the financial collapse of 2007 and the “Great Recession” of 2008.
Being creative in older age, looking forward to your work and making a little extra money can be satisfying. More importantly it's an opportunity to fully develop, explore, and express yourself. Creative work is the key to happiness all throughout one's retirement.

              Living Well, Debt Free

“Escape From Debt ”

“Living Well” suggests placing more emphasis in your life on doing stuff and less emphasis on buying stuff.
I define “dis-ease” as anything that puts you in a state of not being “at ease, at peace, or in harmony with the world you live in.” Last but not least, “Living Well” means living happily in your retirement. Being truly happy in retirement is different for everyone.

Become “Debt Free” suggests that you don’t carry any debt at some point in your life. I encourage you to become debt free with the exception of your mortgage as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter so much if it happens in a month, 3 months, 6 months, a year, or two or even three years in the most extreme cases. Naturally it took time to get into debt, and it will take you time to get out of debt too.

Begin utilizing “The Living Well Debt Free Program” to help better fund your retirement. Learn how you can stretch your retirement dollars farther. Experience the peace of mind that comes from knowing you can with certainty out live your money.

Living well, debt-free is a matter of common sense. Are you ready to kiss your debt good-bye? In my view a financial crisis doesn’t create character; it reveals it.  Our economic uncertainty is a wake-up call, a golden opportunity to really see what you really spend, what you owe, and balance your lifetime checkbook today!
